Over 100,000 patients annually in the U.S. alone undergo tracheostomy (surgical opening in the airway).

Present tracheostomy tubes do nothing to prevent the build-up of secretions that cause life-threatening obstructions. As a result, tracheostomy patients typically require frequent suctioning.

Standard suction catheter-based removal of secretions is incomplete. Its use creates a two-fold infection risk: to the patient from a chronically soiled device, and to those performing trach care via highly infectious aerosolized particles (influenza, COVID, RSV, etc.)

Tracheostomy patient care is passive and stigmatizing. Regardless of prior level of function, they render patients immediately dependent on others — depriving them of their autonomy and dignity.

The AutoTrach introduces the ability to rinse, clean, and evacuate secretions from the tube — all with the press of a button.

The AutoTrach system is not only a better patient experience, it changes the entire ecosystem of tracheostomy and advanced airway care from one that is high touch, high cost, high risk, and high exposure (risk to healthcare workers and infection transmission) to a system that aligns the financial incentives of all parties – all while restoring patient dignity and autonomy.
